WOW STROY

WOW( Women of Wonder)

While Alice, one of my good friends, and I were having lunch, we saluted those brave women of the “# Me-Too” movements. We hope their courageous admission will prevent further sexual exploitation in our society. Even though there have been a lot of “Me Too“ outbreaks worldwide, we identified an overlooked issue that is critical for individual women: low self-esteem and a lack of self-confidence manifesting as a lack of self-love and self-respect.

Self-esteem is our perception of self, the way we think and feel about ourselves as a person: abilities, skills, qualities, achievements, talents, character, accomplishment and some aspect of physical beauty. It takes time to build self-esteem because we need to experience self-acceptance, persistent acknowledgment and continuous re-evaluation.

A person with good self-esteem radiates confidence, ability, and power. When we are confident, our outlook on life is positive and makes us proud of the person who we are, and we act accordingly. Research shows that confident people are more outgoing, pleasant, charming, comfortable, and interact better with others. Moreover, can get a job even more easily and quickly.

Having good self-esteem is desirable for everyone, particularly for women who think they are not important, not good enough, and not worthwhile. Even though self-esteem is not based on what other people think of us, adverse reactions from others will generate self-doubts which in return, lower our self-esteem. With low self-esteem, we tend to be less confident, establish fewer meaningful relationships with others, withdraw from social interaction, and isolate ourselves from family and friends. Overall, we do not value ourselves enough to enjoy life thoroughly.

There is a strong correlation between self-confidence and beauty. Since ancient times, women have strived to look beautiful. Having a good appearance is helpful for self-confidence in women. Why would a woman spend $ 15,000 on beauty products in her lifetime? Looking beautiful, feeling great about self and getting positive feedback from others are the building blocks for self-esteem.

When we do not look our best we feel insecure, hiding under a baseball cap when we run into an acquaintance at the grocery store. The first impression takes only 7 seconds in any given situation and during this short period, others judge us of our value superficially. But this imprinted opinion has significant consequences in the social setting such as job interviews, promotion, and dating.

How can we help women to build self-esteem?  I came up with a concept of forming a support group focusing on women and Alice proposed the name WOW( Women of Wonder). WOW can bring women together to support, educate and motivate each other. WOW will dedicate itself to boosting women’s self-confidence, hosting educational events and having fun as well. Anyone can be a part of WOW by joining, assisting, sharing, teaching, initiating, and introducing new skills and ideas.

At present, we have formed a group of volunteer board members to assist the development of WOW.  Charter participating members will be volunteering their time. The website for WOW is www.2bewow.com, currently under construction. (As of October 3, this site is up and running with a few contents- check it out the first story).  This site will share inspiring stories, projects, photos, and recipes.  Any of you might get a call from me to share your stories, volunteer to teach your expertise and lead a fun event for WOW.

We are also providing WOW classesto boost women’s self-confidence. CHOICE MEDICAL AESTHETIC CLINIC is collaborating with the PETER WHITE PUBLIC LIBRARY. This magnificent library, PWPL has been offering a wealth of self- improvement opportunities and positive environment to the community: supplying us with an abundance of knowledge, opportunities for personal growth, and fun events.  With my many years of experience in the medical aesthetic field, and my passion for helping women to look beautiful, I am confident that I can help anyone who desires self- improvement. I am thrilled to work with PWPL on this self-help class projects.

apple, or banana.  Learn about some Fashion Rulesconcerning body shape. Because of my experience in producing fashion shows, clothing design and modeling, I understand what is needed in fashion finesse.  Attend this lighthearted session and come away with some new ideas. Women always seem to find these classes fun. Why not hang around other women with their sassy attitudes!

The makeup class on Tuesday, October 9 at 6:30 pm offers  fundamental techniques in how to apply basic makeup step-by- step. How many of us understand how to apply makeup correctly? We probably have a drawerful of outdated makeup ready to be dumped out. Learn how to use right tools, colors and techniques and let’s get your natural beauty shine.

The second makeup class on Tuesday, October 23 at 6:30 pm will be a Halloween makeup session for adult and children. Plastic masks are a safety issue, and many children do not like covers on their face. Face painting will be a dramatic fun alternative for kids and adults.

Women preparing for the holidays can enjoy a special makeup session on Tuesday, November 13 at 6:30 pm.  Then we will have a fun show on spicing up your little black dress on Wednesday, December 5 at 6:30 pm. Bring your simple black dress, and we will convert it into a holiday knockout.
